Someone once said, “I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.”
Mountain Education wants our students to learn by doing. We show them what to do and demonstrate it for them right on trail where it is needed. We teach them why doing it is a good idea and assist them as they practice it. This is “experiential education” at its best.
Mountain Education’s Snow Basic Clinic is fairly non-stop, as there is so much to teach you, so after we have mastered the above, we will take a short break to re-fuel and re-hydrate, then, if there is time, head into the next clinic,
The Creek-crossing Simulation:
Once the skills sessions are done, the class will regroup back at the packs at our lunch spot, refuel, re-hydrate, and head back to the Tram Station. The Snow Basics Clinic is officially complete! Students can head down the tram to their cars or stay topside to have dinner in the restaurant or just catch a drink at the bar and talk about how much fun they had learning about safe and wise snow-hiking!
Now, go tell all your friends!
